Churches today want to bless children as Jesus did. We extend invitations to children and youth, but we also face the tragic reality that sexual abuse of children and youth occurs in our communities. To help churches reduce the risk of sexual abuse, Safe Sanctuaries, a book by Joy Thornburg Melton provides guidance for developing polices and procedures to help make congregations safe places for children, youth, and vulnerable adults - places where they feel secure in the abiding love of God and the fellowship of the community of faith.
